Before you had color, you had to use different spectrums of light, red green and blue, put them together and you had yourself a color image. To get this image I used a similar technique, three exposures, three different filters. The problem is you have to make sure you're in the same exact spot. That's why the vapor trail is different colors, and it looks like you're looking through a pair of 3D glasses. - Matt Haupt
